Just to start off, I might not be aware of all facts about this subject, but I can't help writing this mind monster down on virtual paper.
THE UNIVERSE.
This is my PERSONAL view, mainly approached in a pseudo-scientific way which I can not prove.
So I have been told that the universe grows.
It can grow eternally, or the gravitational forces can pull the universe to implode, causing a Big-Bang (The Big Bounce). Both ways, it does not stand still.
I was just thinking (first unproven fact perhaps?), doesn't anything that grows, needs a substance to grow in. We grow in the air around is.
The Universe must be containing SOME elements, maybe some we haven't discovered yet? We are still discovering elements today so the possibility is there!
So taking it as a fact, and considering the Universe is growing, it must be growing within something. What is that something? How am I supposed to see the Universe?
Are we within a balloon which is still being blown up, the balloon residing in a "container"?
Just as cells can blow up themselves sucking up too much liquid for molecular diffusion (Osmosis).
What is "out there"?
If the universe is a container of planets, and the universe being within a container itself,
can we leave this universe?
So far we are unable the size of the universe, often being explained as UNLIMITED.
It is growing, so it must be growing in a certain speed? There must be a border if it's growing.
If there is a border, then it is not unlimited.
Are we within a balloon, with a impossible "wall" to penetrate, or are we like bacteria on a drop of water, just not knowing which direction is right?
And no, I am not mathematically strong, so I might have the ideas of the 1800's.
But I would like to hear it from a scientist who can explain it into my understanding.
Perhaps I'm still not "converted" then, but at least have another paradigm about it.
Who knows, the universe, with it's millions of galaxies is just a big marble in a marble-bag.
Are we IN it, or ON it?
Can we ever lift off of the universe by going towards its edges, or will we circle back to where we were?
I can not answer this, and thinking about this will probably cause me my sanity.
But I know my thoughts are circled back, just like on the universe.
